The village right next to the airport that most travellers don't know about.
Badhoevedorp is a small village literally 3km from Schiphol's terminal — closer than most official car parks. Travellers who know about it park on paid residential streets (€1.30-1.60/hr, free evenings and Sundays) and catch bus 300 directly to the terminal in about 8 minutes.
Bus 300 (Leiden–Schiphol–Hoofddorp line) stops in Badhoevedorp and runs directly to Schiphol Arrivals/Departures. Runs every 10-15 min. Takes 8 minutes, costs ~€2.50 single on OV-chipkaart.
Hoofdweg and Sloterweg have paid street parking at €1.30-1.60/hr. Free from 18:00 and all day Sunday. Check the blue-and-white parking signs carefully — some side streets are permit-only (vergunninghouders).
Perfect for 1-4 night trips. For a weekend away, total cost is under €15. Longer trips: use the P+R Sloterdijk method or an off-site shuttle. Can't book in advance — just turn up and park.
Pre-booking saves 15-20%. Prices rise near departure. Off-site fills up in school holidays.
Sloterdijk→Schiphol: 5 min by train. Shuttles: 10-15 min + wait. Train is cheaper AND faster.
