The €6 Schiphol parking hack

Step 1: Drive to P+R Sloterdijk (easy from A10). Park in the covered garage for €1/24hr (max 96 hours).

Step 2: Walk 2 minutes to Sloterdijk station. Direct train to Schiphol — 1 stop, 5 minutes. Return ticket ~€5.

Total: ~€6 whether you're gone 1 day or 4 days. Compare to €54/day at P1.

Trips over 4 days: P+R max is 96 hours. For longer holidays, off-site shuttle at €8-9/day is best. 7-day trip: €56-63 — still 85% cheaper than official.

Pick-ups & drop-offs

Use the free waiting area (Aankomstweg). Kiss & Ride at Schiphol Plaza is free for 15 minutes.

Local Secret

Park in Badhoevedorp — 3km from Schiphol

The village right next to the airport that most travellers don't know about.

🏘️ What is Badhoevedorp?

Badhoevedorp is a small village literally 3km from Schiphol's terminal — closer than most official car parks. Travellers who know about it park on paid residential streets (€1.30-1.60/hr, free evenings and Sundays) and catch bus 300 directly to the terminal in about 8 minutes.

🚌

Bus 300 — direct to terminal

Bus 300 (Leiden–Schiphol–Hoofddorp line) stops in Badhoevedorp and runs directly to Schiphol Arrivals/Departures. Runs every 10-15 min. Takes 8 minutes, costs ~€2.50 single on OV-chipkaart.

📍

Where to park

Hoofdweg and Sloterweg have paid street parking at €1.30-1.60/hr. Free from 18:00 and all day Sunday. Check the blue-and-white parking signs carefully — some side streets are permit-only (vergunninghouders).

Best for short trips

Perfect for 1-4 night trips. For a weekend away, total cost is under €15. Longer trips: use the P+R Sloterdijk method or an off-site shuttle. Can't book in advance — just turn up and park.

⚠️ Check the signs: Always read the blue parking signs on the street. Some residential streets are permit-only. Stick to paid zones with a visible meter/pay point. Don't block driveways or park on yellow markings — a Dutch parking fine (naheffing) is €80.20.
Tips

Schiphol parking tips

📅

Book 2-3 weeks early

Pre-booking saves 15-20%. Prices rise near departure. Off-site fills up in school holidays.

🚊

Train beats shuttle

Sloterdijk→Schiphol: 5 min by train. Shuttles: 10-15 min + wait. Train is cheaper AND faster.

🔋

EV charging

P1 and P3 have EV charging. Some off-site lots too. Charge while you fly.
