Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands — a Roman settlement founded over 2,000 years ago. Today it's home to Radboud University (one of the largest in the country), a lively waterfront along the Waal, and the famous Vierdaagse (Four Days Marches) each July. Parking is reasonably priced for a city of its size.
Parking Mariënburg at €1.60/hr is the best value central garage. It puts you right in the heart of the shopping area, a short walk from Plein 1944, the Waalkade riverfront, and the Valkhof museum.
If you're visiting the Waalkade or Valkhof park, Q-Park Waalkade is the most convenient option at €2.50/hr. On Sundays the riverfront street parking is free — this is by far the best day to visit.
During the Four Days Marches (third Tuesday in July), central Nijmegen is extremely busy. All P+R sites fill early. Arrive before 9am or use P+R Ressen from the east side — it's less well-known and usually has spaces.
Near Radboud University (Heyendaal campus), parking is free in evenings and on weekends. During the week, use the campus garages which are cheaper than the centre.
