EV charging & parking by city

🔌

Amsterdam

10,000+ public charging points. Many parking garages have EV bays. Mobihub locations have dedicated EV charging. Zero-emission zones incoming 2025-2030.

Rotterdam

5,000+ charging points. The Markthal garage has EV bays. Rotterdam is building the most EV infrastructure per capita of any Dutch city outside Amsterdam.

🚗

The Hague

4,000+ charging points. Government quarter has many EV spots. Scheveningen beach parking includes charging bays for summer visitors.

🔋

Utrecht

3,500+ charging points. Hoog Catharijne garage has 50+ EV bays. Utrecht aims for full EV parking integration by 2026.

Eindhoven

3,000+ points. ASML and Philips offices have large EV infrastructure. City centre garages are increasingly EV-equipped. Fastned on A2 nearby.

🔌

Schiphol

EV parking available at P3 and P4. Dedicated EV bays with 22kW charging. Pre-book EV spots via Schiphol app. Airport EV target: 100% by 2030.

How EV charging works in Dutch parking garages

Most modern Dutch parking garages have integrated Type 2 (Mennekes) charging bays. You pay the parking rate plus a separate charging fee, usually €0.25-0.45/kWh. Apps like ANWB Onderweg, Plugshare, and the network's own apps show availability.

Roaming cards

The Dutch OplaadNL roaming card works at 95% of public charging points. So does the ANWB Laadpas. Most networks also accept contactless payment at fast chargers.

Free charging — does it still exist?

Some municipalities offer free charging at on-street points — Eindhoven and some Rotterdam districts still have this. This is becoming rarer as energy costs rise. Check the chargepoint sign for pricing.

Zero Emission Zones

Amsterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag, and Rotterdam are implementing Zero Emission Zones (ZEZs) between 2025-2030. Non-ZEV vehicles will be banned from city centres. Check the exact dates for your city before driving a diesel/petrol vehicle.
